Every J-drama (ドラマ), K-drama or other live-action asian show I’ve seen, and whether or not I liked it.

akihabara@DEEP: ♥♥♥ I really want to get around to reading the novel this drama is based on. It’s sort of real-surreal at some points, but avoids completely jumping off the deep end. A group of people brought together by a net helpline consisting of one woman, they become Akihabara’s problem-solvers.

Dae Jang Geum | 대장금(大長今): ♥♥ Long k-drama (70 episodes!) about cooking in the royal palace. Based on a true story, this drama is full of sabotage, revenge and striving to be the best, whether it’s in food or medicine. Definitely worth a watch, but can feel repetitive at times.
Densha Otoko | 電車男: ♥ Kind of cute but weird drama about a (supposedly) real story, as recounted on the famous anonymous bulletin board, 2ch. Otaku boy stands up to drunk man to save girl, girl thanks with expensive cups, and the rest is internet history.

Gal Circle | ギャルサー: ♥♥♥ Although this show has a somewhat sappy after-school special feeling to it, I can’t help enjoying it completely! Based somewhat loosely on the lives of gyaru in Shibuya, this short drama covers topics such as bullying, being true to what you really want out of life, and friendship.

Pretty Guardian Sailormoon ♥♥ Live action Sailormoon? Awesome. Cheesy CG effects to mimic the animated’s transformation and attack scenes? Not quite so awesome, but not bad if you’re prepared to not take it too seriously. The story is essentially the same but with some kind of sad changes…
Princess Lulu | 루루공주: ♥ A sweet 20 episode k-drama about a girl, a playboy, and her non-biological brother. A strange love-triangle story.

Tantei Gakuen Q | 探偵学園Q: ♥♥♥ A show about a detective school – how can I not love it? The drama takes a slightly different feel than the anime, focusing mainly on Q class as sort of a special task force used by the head of the school to solve real crimes. Great casting, great music.
